¡¡In this course, student will focus on learning how to learn, and acquiring the basic skills necessary to study at KUIS as an overseas student. The first half of the course will focus on developing students¡Ç ability to communicate in Japanese classes and to access necessary resources while studying in Japan. The second half of the class will introduce the Japanese expressions necessary for writing reports.
¡¡In addition, students will reflect on their own learning as well as on their Japanese language courses, and use the blog function in Moodle to input their reflections.

The aim of this course is to cultivate students¡Ç Japanese proficiency as well as their ability to self-direct their language learning. Of the four skills, students will focus on improving their reading and writing. In this course, students will study Japanese written expressions used in daily life. During class, students will use authentic materials such as newspapers and magazines and study the particular structures and styles of the writing. At the end of the semester, students will choose their own materials and give a report on them. Students will organize the written expressions they learn from the articles into a portfolio which will be assessed.

The aim of this course is to attain reading comprehension strategies in order to understand longer, more complex sentences and paragraphs. In addition, the reading tasks will help build schema about Japanese society and culture. Importance will also be placed on being able to create sentences such as summarizing the readings and writing one¡Çs impressions and opinions.
